When it comes to brand storytelling, timing matters. Over the years of photographing everything from interiors to lifestyle campaigns, one thing’s become clear, seasonal photography can be for amplifying your brand voice and helping you truly connect with your audience.
Earlier this year, I had the joy of working with Big Ass Luxuries to capture a full content shoot built around three themes: Spring, Mother’s Day, and early Summer. The goal? To create a gallery of intentional, versatile images that evoke emotion, fit naturally into seasonal campaigns, and ultimately support their marketing efforts through every channel.
Let’s pull back the curtain on what goes into a seasonal brand shoot like this one, how it benefits your business, and why professional photography can play a major role in your visibility and sales.
Seasonal photography isn’t just about adding pumpkins in October or florals in April (though I love a well-placed seasonal touch!). It’s about using your brand visuals to speak directly to how your audience feels during certain times of year.
When your photos reflect the season, they become more relatable, timely, and emotionally engaging. Whether you’re highlighting cozy family traditions in the fall, fresh beginnings in the spring, or sun-soaked leisure in the summer, you’re helping potential customers see themselves in your product or service.
And in terms of marketing? Seasonal photography gives you:
The magic is in the timing and the storytelling!
This shoot with Big Ass Luxuries was designed to reflect three distinct moods, each tied to a specific season. While the products (luxury candles) stayed consistent, styled and captured to reflect the emotional tone of the season.
The Mother’s Day section of our seasonal photography shoot focused on what really matters: those little moments of love and connection.
We styled scenes around everyday rituals like cooking in the kitchen, playing games, and enjoying quiet conversations. The goal was to highlight the emotional value of the product, a candle that fills your home with warmth and reminds you of the people you love.
For spring, we leaned into a feeling of renewal and effortless beauty. This was all about soft pastel tones, delicate florals, and light streaming through windows.
We created cozy corners with layered linens, crisp white backdrops, and intentional props that brought softness and texture into the frame. Every detail, from the color of the matchbook to the placement of a bloom, was curated to evoke a sense of calm, hope, and fresh beginnings.
This is the heart of seasonal photography! Using visuals to tap into seasonal feelings your audience is already craving.
For the early summer portion, we took things outdoors to show how these candles elevate everyday rituals. Think: a game of mahjong with girlfriends on the patio, a backyard picnic with fruit and sparkling drinks, or unwinding poolside after a long week.
These scenes were styled to feel vibrant, a little playful, and full of life. We wanted people to imagine smelling the candle while sipping rosé, or lighting one as the sun goes down on a summer night.
If you’re an interior designer, product-based business, or creative entrepreneur, here are a few ways to think about using seasonal photography in your brand marketing:
The key to seasonal content is strategy. And a well-planned photoshoot can give you content for an entire season of promotions.
I’m all about photos that work for you long after the shoot is over. When you invest in professional seasonal photography, you’re not just booking a pretty shoot, you’re building a library of emotional, on-brand visuals that align with your messaging year-round.
It allows you to show up consistently and professionally, build brand recognition, and create deeper resonance with your audience.
Plus, these photos create instant trust. When someone lands on your site or social media and sees imagery that feels like the season they’re in, they stop scrolling. They stay longer. They want to know more.
That’s the power of a good photo, especially when it’s tied to a well-timed story!
If you’re dreaming up content for the next quarter, now is the time to start planning. Whether you’re looking to highlight your latest designs, promote a product launch, or simply show up for your audience with intention, seasonal photography is one of the best ways to do it.
