Timeless Modern Interior Design: Capturing Sarah Becker’s ‘Timeless Restored’ Project

Some projects just stick with you, and this was one of them. Sarah Becker’s timeless modern interior design project was more than just another beautifully designed home—it was a deeply personal transformation filled with history, heart, and a whole lot of love. And I had the absolute joy of photographing it.

This wasn’t just a renovation. It was a restoration of memories, a tribute to family, and a lesson in how timeless modern interior design can blend nostalgia with functionality in the most seamless way.

Sarah’s client inherited the property as a child, and after a devastating fire in 2022, they had to rebuild from the ground up—on the exact same slab. Budget limitations meant they had to get creative, but let me tell you, that creativity led to some of the most intentional and inspiring design choices I’ve seen.

This project was filled with rich colors, custom interior details, and heirloom pieces that told a story. And if you know me, you know that I love a good story.

Old Meets New: The Heart of This Timeless Modern Interior Design Project

One of my favorite things about this timeless interior design project was how Sarah perfectly blended old with new.

The split-level layout was leveled out, making the home more functional and accessible for aging in place.
Nostalgic design elements from the original home were brought back in a fresh, updated way.
The space was designed for hosting big family gatherings, without feeling too large or impersonal for everyday living.

This project was so much more than a renovation. It was a thoughtful, intentional reinvention of a home that held so much history. Every detail had a reason, and that’s what made it so special to capture.

Photographing This Project: It’s All in the Details

As a Houston interior design photographer, my approach goes beyond just snapping “pretty pictures.”

I want to tell the full story! I want people to feel the home through my images—its warmth, its history, and the thoughtful choices that make it uniquely Sarah and her client’s vision.

For this project, I focused on capturing:

The intentional mix of old and new – The preserved vintage touches that made the home feel familiar, alongside the modern updates that made it functional.
The heart of the space – Family heirlooms, custom-built pieces, and the little design moments that made this home personal.
How the home flows – Since this project had a tricky redesigned layout, I made sure to capture how each space connected, showing the thoughtfulness behind every decision.

One of my favorite things to photograph? The heirloom pieces that had been reimagined in a modern way! There’s something so powerful about preserving history while still giving a home a fresh start.

And let’s talk about lighting. The natural light in this home was a dream. I used every bit of it to make sure my images reflected the true feel of each room.
