As an interior design photographer based in Houston, Texas, I recently enjoyed capturing Sherry from Terravista Interior Design Group’s beautiful interior design photos for her Graystone Bluff project. The focus of our lens was Sherry’s recent masterpiece in Kingwood, TX. This is where her creative vision breathed new life into a traditional home with a unique old-world charm.
Sherry’s client, having spent three decades in their previous home, decided to embark on a new journey in a freshly acquired house. The challenge was clear – update and brighten the space while preserving the home’s traditional, old-world style with its grand interconnected rooms.
Inspired by the Mediterranean ambiance within, Sherry embraced a transitional, earthy old-world design approach. The vision was to seamlessly blend the classic with the contemporary. All while creating a harmonious symphony that would resonate throughout the home.
To authentically capture Sherry’s design narrative, I had the privilege of working alongside the incredibly talented stylist, Becki from Curious Details. Becki’s knack for enhancing visual stories with carefully selected details added an extra layer of depth to our collaborative project.
Collaborating with a skilled stylist, such as Becki from Curious Details, is like adding the final brushstrokes to a masterpiece. A stylist brings an expert eye for details and a nuanced understanding of aesthetics, enhancing the visual narrative captured through the lens.
Becki’s ability to curate and arrange elements within the space elevated the overall ambiance, ensuring that every shot tells a compelling story. From meticulously arranging decor to refining the placement of furniture, a stylist adds layers of depth and sophistication to the composition. This allows the true essence of the design to shine through. The synergy between photography and styling results in images that not only showcase the design but also evoke a sense of emotion and connection. Some clients like to have a stylist during their shoot and some don’t but if you do and don’t have your own stylist, I highly recommend Becki!
In the heart of Sherry’s design masterpiece stood the dining room, featuring a custom chinoiserie-inspired hand-painted mural. This was my favorite detail to photograph out of the entire day! Designed by Sherry herself, this mural wasn’t just a decorative element; it was the heartbeat of the entire home. Its intricate details and artistic flair set the foundation for the entire space, creating a captivating visual journey.
Working with Sherry and Lexi from Terravista Interior Design Group is always a delight, and this shoot marked our fourth creative collaboration! The shared creative energy and mutual respect for each other’s expertise were evident in every frame we captured.
Despite the rainy weather outside, the interior of Terravista’s design spoke volumes. The warm and inviting ambiance they had crafted for their client turned a gloomy day into a cozy photoshoot experience. It showcased the power of well-designed interiors. Additionally, it highlighted the resilience of spaces that can create comfort even in unfavorable weather.
